DMK Deputy General Secretary and Member of Parliament Dr Kanimozhi Somu questioned the central government's involvement in the Election Commission of India's (ECI) Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. She stated, 'It is not their work. They are not part of the Election Commission and they need not campaign for that'. Karunanidhi argued that the ECI is an independent body and criticized the timing of the revision, suggesting it could have been done after the 2024 parliamentary elections. She linked the current work pressure to alleged suicides among Booth Level Officers (BLOs). Karunanidhi also condemned the short duration of the upcoming winter session of Parliament, calling it the shortest in history and evidence that the government 'doesn't have business'. Additionally, she defended Udhayanidhi Stalin against nepotism charges from the BJP and reiterated the DMK's long-standing position that the post of governor is unnecessary.
