Justice Uday Umesh Lalit to be next Chief Justice of India; Nitish Kumar declares 2024 war on PM Modi; more

President Droupadi Murmu issued a notice on Wednesday for the appointment of Justice UU Lalit as the next Chief Justice of India. He will succeed Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana, whose tenure ends on August 26.

Justice Uday Umesh Lalit, who has been appointed as the 49th Chief Justice of India, will take charge from August 27, 2022.

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar, who was sworn in as the Bihar Chief Minister for the eighth time on Wednesday, took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he should worry about 2024 (polls.)

After the oath-taking ceremony, CM Nitish Kumar took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said, “He won in 2014, but should now worry about 2024.”
