Video: Wreckage of plane crash that killed two pilots recovered from Jharkhand dam

The Indian Navy successfully recovered a trainee aircraft that had sunk in Chandil Dam, Jamshedpur, on August 20. 

The operation brought relief to both the soldiers and the local administration. Crowds gathered at the scene to witness the recovery, with many capturing the moment on camera.

The Navy team began retrieval efforts using sonar equipment and large balloons to locate and lift the aircraft, which was found 6 kilometres from the dam, lying upside down at a depth of 15 meters. The aircraft was then pulled to the surface and lifted out by a crane.

The trainee aircraft, operated by Alchemist Aviation, had gone missing last Tuesday shortly after taking off from Jamshedpur’s Sonari Airport. Onboard were Captain Jeet and trainee pilot Shubhradeep. Initial reports suggested an emergency landing, but later that evening, a local from Piyaldi village reported that the plane had crashed into the dam. After 40 hours, the bodies of the pilots were recovered but there was no sign of the aircraft.
