Jallikattu event held in Madurai amidst tight security

The bull-taming sport of jallikattu began this morning in Madurai's Avaniyapuram in the presence of Tamil Nadu State Revenue Minister RB Udhayakumar.

Altogether 910 bulls were registered for the event alongwith 750 bull wranglers.

To prevent any untoward incident, 500 policemen have been deployed for safety. Eight ambulances are also present on the spot.

The event began after an oath by participants.
