Heavy rains paralyse Mumbai: Long traffic jams, water logging in many areas

Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and neighbouring areas on Monday leading to massive traffic congestion and waterlogging in several parts of the city.

Cancelled and delayed local trains, traffic jams stalled the city, making it difficult for people to commute. Palghar area of Mumbai received a substantial 361 mm rainfall overnight.

Police officials along with the Mumbai Municipal Corporation are using pumps to remove the excess water.

Railway protection force was deployed at railway stations to ensure the safety of passengers.
