Haryana government mulls sending DGP on leave in Y Puran Kumar death case

The Haryana government is mulling sending state police chief DGP Shatrujeet Kapur on leave after the suicide of senior IPS officer ADGP Y Puran Kumar, who was found dead at his Chandigarh residence on October 7.

A new officiating DGP is expected to be appointed, and SP Rohtak Narendra Vijarnia, named in a complaint by the ADGP's wife, will also be transferred. The complaint by Amneet P Kumar alleges the suicide was forced by pressure over transfers, stating there was "so much pressure created as far as transfers regarding areas... that this actually forced him to commit suicide."
