Government to start long-delayed census in 2025

The Central government plans to initiate the national census in 2025 after a four-year delay caused by the COVID pandemic. This census, typically held every decade, was initially set for 2021. Alongside this, the delimitation of Lok Sabha seats is expected to occur and be finalised by 2028. These developments come as opposition parties call for a caste-based census.
