Government attempting to impose its will: Abhishek Singhvi on One Nation One Poll

In an exclusive interview with India Today's News Director Rahul Kanwal, Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi explains why he and the opposition are against the One Nation, One Election bill and why they think it is against federalism. 

Abhishek Manu Singhvi called the One Nation, One Election proposal 'completely unreal' and 'ill-thought-of'. He argued it would violate the basic structure of the Constitution by imposing a legal will on the majority's mandate. Singhvi also questioned the proposal's impact on state autonomy and challenged the government's claim that it doesn't require state ratification.
