Fear of bird flu grips India amid coronavirus pandemic

Amid Covid-19 pandemic, bird flu has been reported from eight states and Centre has identified 12 epicentres of the outbreak in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Kerala.

The current bird flu outbreak comes barely a few months after India on September 30, 2020, declared the country free from the disease. India notified the first outbreak of bird flu or avian influenza in 2006.
