Fireworks continue for BJP over farm bills

The farm bills continue to stoke controversy as many farmers and political parties including Akali Dal, which recently snapped its ties with BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, hit out at the Centre against the agriculture-related bills.

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said his government is exploring all options, including possible amendments to the state laws, to protect farmers' interests over Centre's farm bills.

Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal termed the presidential assent to the contentious farm legislations and the Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Bill as "sad, disappointing and extremely unfortunate".
