Delhi Court sends KCR's daughter to agency custody till March 23, BRS says arrest illegal

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader K Kavitha, allegedly a key member of the 'South Group', accused of paying the AAP kickbacks of Rs 100 crore in cash, in return for a big share of liquor licences in Delhi, was on Saturday remanded in ED custody till March 23. She has denied all allegations and contended that her arrest is illegal. 

The judge has also directed that Kavitha's interrogation should be conducted under CCTV surveillance

Kavitha, a member of the Telangana Legislative Council and daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao, was produced before Special Judge for ED cases M K Nagpal, who sent her to the custody of the federal anti-money laundering agency for a week. The ED had sought her custody for 10 days. As per the ED, not only did Kavitha receive kickbacks in the liquor scam, but she also destroyed evidence in the case. 

Kavitha, 46, was arrested from her Banjara Hills residence on Friday amid protests by her supporters.

Meanwhile, BRS party workers took to the streets in Hyderabad, enraged at her arrest, and accused the BJP of orchestrating her arrest, weeks ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
