Senior Advocate and Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi discusses the state of the Indian Constitution with India Today's Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai. Singhvi argues that non-institutional pillars like secularism, fraternity, and federalism, and institutional pillars like Parliament and the Election Commission, are endangered and their erosion has been consistent over the last decade. When challenged about past constitutional transgressions by Congress governments, Singhvi stated, 'Is it an answer to say that something wrong happened there? Of course wrongs must have happened. But today, I have no hesitation in saying that the degree... the consistent degree, the invariable degree, the unvarying degree of several of these institutions... has been consistently eroding.' He also contends that the judiciary has largely been a bulwark against this erosion, despite some aberrations.
