While discussing reports of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's alleged poisoning and hospitalisation in Pakistan, India Today TV anchor Shiv Aroor stated that it was likely that Ibrahim was "alive and well" and that the speculation may have been spread by Pakistan to distract the public.

He brings forth the fact that the unconfirmed reports of Ibrahim's hospitalisation came on a day when the Pakistan government briefly suspended internet services on December 17. This coincided with a protest by Imran Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

He added that no previous reports had suggested that Dawood Ibrahim was in any danger in Pakistan.
