Constitution Day celebrated in Parliament, PM, Rahul Gandhi pictured together

India is marking 75 years since the adoption of its Constitution with a year-long celebration starting today. The President of India led the festivities, including a grand inaugural in Parliament's Central Hall. The Constitution was released in Sanskrit and Maithili, and a mass reading of the preamble will occur across the nation. A new website, constitution75.com, allows public engagement with the legacy of the constitution.

The programme began with the welcome address by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, with several other leaders addressing on this special occasion,

President Droupadi Murmu addressed the joint session of both houses , describing the constitution as a living and progressive document.
