Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Attacks PM Modi in Lok Sabha: 'You Cannot Malign Nehru, You Don't Understand Bengal'

Speaking during the special discussion on the 150th anniversary of 'Vande Mataram' in the Lok Sabha, Congress Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Gogoi accused the PM of attempting to "rewrite history" and politicize the national song. He defended the Congress party's legacy, asserting that while the BJP's "political ancestors" stayed away from the Quit India Movement, Congress leaders like Nehru and Maulana Azad upheld the true spirit of the song. Gogoi also raised critical issues including the recent "bomb explosion" in Delhi, the depreciation of the rupee, and the plight of Bengali voters in Assam, stating, "You have not understood Bengal and you have not understood the nation."
