Congress asks govt to restore SPG protection for Gandhis

The third day of the Parliament began on a stormy note in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday with Congress raising concern over withdrawal of the Special Protection Group cover (SPG) cover to the Gandhi family. After the Congress was allowed to raise questions in the Zero Hour on withdrawal to the SPG cover of the Gandhi family, party leader Anand Sharma said when in office, the UPA did not withdraw security cover from its opponents. Putting forward his party’s concerns, Anand Sharma said the issue should be seen beyond partisan political considerations and urged the government to go beyond partisan politics.
