Conclave 2023 | G20 shouldn't be the arena of Global North: EAM S Jaishankar

The Russia-Ukraine war has aggravated an already distressed global situation, foreign minister S Jaishankar said on Day 2 of the India Today Conclave 2023. At the Group of 20 (G20), other concerns became peripheral and the focus shifted entirely to the Ukraine. Now, with India helming the G20, its priority would be to bring the collective's focus back on its initial mandate. "India is the first country to consult the rest of the world not at the G20 table of what they want from G20. Much of the world says India is batting for us. G20 shouldn't be the arena of the Global North," he said. Countries that are developed are considered as Global North countries.
