Chennai ground report: Homes and streets submerged by flood water in Velachery

Cyclone Michaung's wrath was acutely felt in Chennai's Velachery, leaving the area struggling to recover from its devastating impact.

The cyclone, which made landfall between Nellore and Kavali in Andhra Pradesh, brought fierce winds of up to 110 km/h and relentless rains that led to severe flooding.

Velachery witnessed extensive damage as waterlogged streets and inundated homes disrupted daily life.

Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin surveyed the damage, emphasizing the urgent need for relief efforts. Despite the storm weakening over Telangana, Velachery's plight highlighted the ferocity of the natural disaster that had befallen it.
