Centre Clarifies Aravalli Mining Stance: Only 0.19% of Region Eligible, Says Official

In a recent address regarding the Aravalli mountain range, a government representative dismissed allegations of widespread mining as 'misinformation'. The speaker clarified that 'tiny part of Aravalli is eligible for mining', specifically quantifying it as '0.19 percent of the 1.44 lakh square kilometers'. Addressing confusion over the '100 meters' protection rule, the official referenced a '1968 geological study by Richard Morphy' to explain that the protection extends from the top 100 meters to the bottom 100 meters of the mountain structure. The Centre asserted that the rest of the Aravalli range remains protected and safe, urging the public to 'stop peddling lies'.
