CBI vs Didi's ex-top cop: Saradha chit fund scam probe or politics?

Ahead of the 2021 assembly polls, West Bengal seems to be headed for another Centre vs state showdown with the CBI moving the Supreme Court seeking the arrest of former Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in connection with Saradha chit fund scam case. Rajeev Kumar is seen as close to Bengal Mamata Banerjee.

The CBI stated that Rajeev Kumar is not cooperating in the probe and that his custodial interrogation is necessary in to unearth the nexus in the scam.

The scam was unearthed in 2013, when Saradha Group of companies allegedly duped lakhs of people to the tune of Rs 2,500 crore.
