"Discussions were very constructive and forward looking," Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar told reporters after the bilateral meeting between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Modi, who is in Chinese town of Xiamen attending the ninth BRICS Summit, met Chinese President Xi Jinping. It was the first bilateral meeting between the leaders of the two neighbouring nations after the over 70-day Doklam border standoff.
The prime minister, accompanied by senior officials including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, met the Chinese leader just before his travel to Myanmar from the port city of Xiamen.
"Issue of counter-terrorism was discussed during BRICS Summit. Terror was not on agenda during bilateral talks," said S Jaishankar. "Peace and tranquility at the border areas is a prerequisite for fruitful relations between India and China," the foreign secretary further said.
