Centre asks Internet, social media giants to remove all links to Blue Whale game immediately

Government has issued a circular to the Internet and social media giants to get rid of the Blue Whale game, which has been linked to at least three suicides in the country.

The Ministry of Information Technology has directed the internet giants, including Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Microsoft and Yahoo to immediately remove any links that are associated with this deadly online game.

The game, in fact, was said to be the cause of a 14-year-old's suicide in Mumbai earlier this month. Another incident of suicide from Kerala was suspected to have been caused by the Blue Whale game.

The Blue Whale Game contains 50 progressive challenges that culminate in the player's committing suicide.

It has been linked to several teen and child suicides across the world.
