Bharat Bandh: Protesters turn violent, police attacked by mob in Madhya Pradesh

Dalit organisations across India called for a Bharat Bandh today to voice their protest against a recent Supreme Court ruling that diluted the provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

With the Bharat Bandh turning violent in parts of the country, the Centre today filed a review petition for the SC/ST Act in the Supreme Court.

The Bharat Bandh protests have turned deadly in Madhya Pradesh where four people are reported to have been killed.
