A woman in Bengaluru attempted suicide following a campaign of online harassment and sexual threats. The ordeal began after she sought financial help on social media for her daughter's medical treatment and borrowed â¹30,000 from the accused. The man allegedly used this loan as leverage to blackmail her for sexual favours. According to the police report, he threatened that if she did not comply, her 'phone numbers will be saved on matrimony account. It will be saved in all the public toilets. And it will also be shared on website'. The sustained harassment, which included obscene messages and threats to circulate her number to prostitution rings, led to severe mental distress. The woman was rescued by friends, and the police have since registered an FIR, highlighting the growing dangers of digital financial transactions and online interactions.
