Bengaluru Jail Shakeup: 14 Mobiles, 9 SIMs Seized in Surprise Raid After India Today Expose

In a major crackdown following an India Today expose, a surprise inspection at Bengaluru Central Prison on December 9 led to the seizure of 14 mobile phones, 9 SIM cards, and other prohibited items. India Today's Sagay Raj reports that a total of 67 mobiles and 48 SIM cards have been recovered since November 11, with six FIRs filed under the Karnataka Prisons Amendment Act 2022. The raid comes amid allegations of prisoners enjoying 'luxurious' facilities, including television and special food.
