Bengal violence: Congress leader questions credibility, neutrality of women's panel

Bengal Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Sunday attacked and questioned the credibility of the National Commission for Women (NCW) who visited violence-hit Malda and submitted its report to the Centre. The former Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha claimed that the NCW worked for the BJP, while the state commission worked for the Trinamool Congress. Chowdhury further claimed that NCW teams are only accompanied by BJP's men and no one else is allowed. He alleged that the NCW does not care if a Muslim dies.

On Saturday, NCW Chief Vijaya Rahatkar claimed that women were sexually assaulted and forcefully evicted during violence in Malda.
