Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir for first time since abrogation of Article 370

The Election Commission announced the dates for the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

This will be the first Assembly polls in the district since the abrogation of Article 370.

The Union Territory will go to polls in three phases from September 18. The next two phases will be on September 25 and October 1. Counting of votes will take place on October 4, along with the counting of votes for the Haryana Assembly elections as well.

Notably, the Union Territory will go to polls after a decade.
