Air quality worsens in Delhi

Air quality in New Delhi and the surrounding national capital region (NCR) worsened when the levels of particulate matter, or tiny pollutants that trigger health hazards, shot up above the permissible mark.

As stubble burning, considered one of the main reasons behind the spike in pollution at this time of the year, continues in Punjab and Haryana, conditions could deteriorate further. The Air Quality Index in Delhi was measured at 367, i.e. 'very poor'.
