An alarm was triggered on an Air India Express flight from Bengaluru to Varanasi after a passenger attempted to access the cockpit. The flyer, a first-time traveller, pressed the security code on the cockpit door, which he reportedly mistook for the lavatory. The passenger has since stated that âhe was not aware that this is the cockpit, this is the way to the cockpit, he was looking for a lavatory out there.â The pilot alerted Air Traffic Control, and upon landing in Varanasi, the passenger and his eight companions were taken for interrogation by the CRPF and local police. Air India Express has confirmed the incident, maintaining that robust security protocols were not compromised and that the passenger was looking for the lavatory. The matter is currently under investigation by the relevant authorities.
