Air Force Chief stresses need to accelerate on 5th-generation fighter jets

Air Force chief AP Singh, speaking at the India Today Conclave 2025, called for India's need to catch up with the latest technology and accelerate its fifth-generation fighter jet program at a time when China has showcased its sixth-generation combat aircraft. He also said that America was yet to make a formal offer on the sale of its advanced F-35 jets, weeks after Donald Trump offered the aircraft to India during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's US visit. The Air Chief also shed light on the viral video of him pulling up officials of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) over delays in the delivery of Tejas fighter jets, calling it "friendly talk".
