Karnataka Bus Accident: 9 Dead After Sleeper Bus Collides with Lorry

A private sleeper bus travelling from Bengaluru to Gokarna caught fire after colliding with a lorry near Gorlattu village in Hiryur taluk on National Highway 48. Nagarjun Dwarakanath confirms that 'nine such unfortunate people could not get out as the fire had completely engulfed the bus' following the crash around 2 am. The report highlights that the lorry, travelling towards Bengaluru, jumped the divider and hit the bus, killing the lorry driver as well. The injured have been shifted to local hospitals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the next of kin of the deceased.
