Watch: Devotees flock to Haridwar to celebrate Ganga Dussehra

The auspicious festival of Ganga Dusshera begins today, as devotees from all walks of life swarm to Haridwar to pay their respects to Ganga. 

In the wake of the festivals, security has been beefed up, with police maintaining vigilance at riverbanks and ghats on Ganga Dusshera. Additional police and post-divers have been deployed at the ghats. 

Ganga Dusshera is also called Gangavataran as it celebrates the holy descent of the Ganga to earth, which is believed to have occurred on this auspicious day.
