'I love Muhammad' row: Internet suspended for 48-hour in Bareilly

The Bareilly administration has suspended mobile internet and broadband services for 48 hours, from 3 pm on October 2nd until 3 pm on October 4th. This decision was taken as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order ahead of Friday prayers (Jumma Namaz). The move comes in the wake of riots on September 29th, which followed previous Friday prayers and were linked to a poster controversy. In connection with the violence, Bareilly police have arrested 81 individuals. The official order for the shutdown was issued by Secretary Home Gaurav Dayal. While daily activities for the general public are not disturbed, this step is intended to prevent any further escalation of the situation.
