Karur stampede: Court asks why Vijay fled, slams police inaction against him

The Madras High Court, which is hearing the Karur stampede case, pulled up TVK chief Vijat for fleeing the scene during the stampede. The court also expressed anguish over the police's inaction against him, noting his name was absent from the FIR, which names other senior party functionaries. 

Meanwhile, TVK's counsel argued that the police failed to provide adequate protection and should have rejected the venue if it was unsuitable. The party also claimed permission was granted just one day before the event. Countering this, the police stated that TVK ignored requests to halt party chief Joseph Vijay's vehicle despite the growing, uncontrollable crowd.
