A chilling murder plot involving a daughter-in-law and her lover has been uncovered in Uttar Pradesh's Mau district, where a man was allegedly lured out, had his throat slit, and the killing filmed on a mobile phone, police said.

Police said they had cracked the case of Subachchan Rajbhar's brutal murder, carried out on the night of February 1 in the Sarai Lakhansi area. The accused included the victim's daughter-in-law Pinki Rajbhar, her lover Rammilan Rajbhar, and his two associates, Sudhir and Rohit. All four have been arrested, and the knife used in the crime has been recovered.

According to police, Subachchan Rajbhar's body was found the next morning in a mango orchard in the village with his throat slit. After the family informed the police, a case was registered and multiple teams were formed to investigate the killing.

During the probe, officers found that Pinki Rajbhar was in a relationship with Rammilan while her husband, Chandan, had been working abroad and had not returned home for nearly two years. Police said Subachchan had come to know about the affair and had reprimanded Pinki repeatedly, leading to tension within the family.

"Based on questioning, suspicion and informer inputs, we established that the murder was planned by the Pinki Rajbhar along with her lover," Mau Additional Superintendent of Police Anoop Kumar said.

Police said Pinki allegedly told Rammilan that her father-in-law was mistreating her and urged him to kill Subachchan. Acting on the plan, Rammilan, along with Sudhir and Rohit, called the victim out on the pretext of drinking liquor near a village tubewell.

"The accused pressed his mouth shut and slit his throat with a knife. During the act, they also recorded a video on a mobile phone, which has been recovered," ASP Kumar said.

Besides the murder weapon, police have also seized the victim's mobile phone and the motorcycle used in the crime.

Police further said Pinki claimed during interrogation that Subachchan had assaulted her and her child on multiple occasions and had behaved with "bad intent". After that, she allegedly contacted her lover and got the murder carried out.

All four accused have been sent to jail, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Meanwhile, accused Rammilan Rajbhar told police that he and Pinki had been in contact for around one-and-a-half years. He alleged that the victim used to misbehave with Pinki and had assaulted her when no one was at home. Rammilan also said Pinki's husband was in Dubai and had little contact with her.

On being asked about marrying Pinki, Rammilan reportedly said they would decide after coming out of jail. Pinki has three children.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
