“At two in the night, if someone is sitting on a railing, what will you think? You will feel something abnormal. I felt something was wrong.”

A neighbour who witnessed the final moments of three minor sisters who jumped from the ninth floor of their residential building in Ghaziabad has spoken about the horror he saw unfold in the early hours, initially mistaking the scene for a couple and their child attempting suicide.

The incident took place around 2 am, when the three girls allegedly climbed onto the railing of their apartment building and fell together, triggering panic and shock across the complex.

‘I THOUGHT IT WAS A COUPLE AND THEIR CHILD’

Recounting the moments before the tragedy, the neighbour said lights were on in the flat and he noticed unusual movement on the balcony.

“At that time, the light was on. If you see someone sitting on the railing at two o’clock at night, you feel something is abnormal,” he said.

From a distance, he believed he was watching a family in distress.

“I could see a couple trying to jump from behind. And someone was pulling them towards themselves, trying to save them,” he said.

“I thought it was a husband, wife and a child. That is what it looked like to me.”

‘ONE GIRL CAME DOWN, ANOTHER HUGGED HER’

The neighbour said he could initially see only two figures on the railing.

“There were three children, but I could only see two of them,” he said.

He recalled that one of the girls appeared to step back briefly.

“She got down once. Then she sat again. After that, a child came and hugged her from behind,” he said.

Moments later, he saw another girl try to pull her sister back.

“The third one tried to pull her towards herself. And by then, all three fell together,” he said.

DESPERATE CALLS FOR HELP

As soon as the girls fell, the neighbour rushed downstairs and began making emergency calls.

“I ran very fast. First, I called the ambulance. Then I called the police. Then I told the guards to call everyone,” he said.

By the time residents gathered at the spot, the sisters had already succumbed to their injuries.

SHOCK AND CONFUSION IN THE COMPLEX

The witness said the incident left him shaken and confused, as he had not realised at first that three children were involved.

“Until then, I could not see three sisters. I was very sure it was a couple and a child,” he said.

He added that nothing about the girls’ behaviour earlier in the day had suggested such an extreme step.

“I am a businessman. I was at home. I never imagined something like this could happen,” he said.

POLICE CONTINUE INVESTIGATION

Police said the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination and mobile phones recovered from the flat have been seized for forensic analysis.

Investigators are examining whether the sisters’ deaths are linked to an online task-based game, as suggested in preliminary findings.

Officers are also questioning family members, neighbours and friends to reconstruct the events leading up to the incident.

“The sequence of events is being carefully verified. We are checking all digital and personal links,” a senior officer said.
