Cop dead, 12 injured as swing collapses at Surajkund fair in Faridabad
A police inspector died, and 13 people were injured after a tsunami swing collapsed at the Surajkund Fair in Faridabad on Saturday.

A cop was killed, and several others were injured after a tsunami swing collapsed at the Surajkund Fair in Faridabad on Saturday.
The incident occurred when the swing broke, injuring multiple visitors. The police inspector who rushed in to rescue the injured, suffered serious injuries. Police Inspector Jagdish Prasad later died during the rescue operation.
Officials said a total of 13 people were injured in the accident. District officials, including the Deputy Commissioner, the Managing Director of Tourism, and senior police officers, reached the spot soon after the incident. The area was barricaded to prevent further mishaps.
Officials said an FIR has been registered in the matter. In addition, an inquiry committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) to probe the incident. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
Reacting to the incident, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini said in a post on X, “I am deeply saddened by the accident that occurred during the Surajkund Mela in Faridabad. I express my heartfelt condolences to the family of the person who lost his life in this incident. At the same time, necessary directions have been issued to the concerned authorities for the appropriate and immediate treatment of the injured individuals. The Haryana government is fully committed, with utmost promptness and sensitivity, to providing all possible assistance to the injured and their families.”
The minister said, “26 people were on the joyride. One death has been reported. Inspector Jagdish Prasad, who was posted in Palwal and who was on duty here, died while trying to save people. Two women constables are also injured. So, about 12 people are injured. They have minor injuries but 2–3 others have major injuries. All of them are conscious. Inspector Jagdish Prasad had seen the joyride tilting from one end, and he immediately rushed there to save people, but he died. The injured were immediately admitted to the hospital. As far as certification is concerned, all joyride certifications are done by the Deputy Commissioner. Today also it was found that the joyrides were fine, but this incident occurred. A committee has been formed, and they will give a report as to why it happened all of a sudden.”
Faridabad Deputy Commissioner Ayush Sinha said, “At about 6.15 pm, an unfortunate incident occurred here. A joyride collapsed at Surajkund. In this incident, around 13 people were injured. They have been rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. A Police Inspector was declared dead. He had tried to save people when the joyride began tilting. But a part of the joyride hit him in the face and head. Others are under treatment.”
Earlier, a gate at the food court had reportedly fallen due to strong winds.
