Air India, IndiGo flights suffer wing collision at Mumbai airport
The mishap happened when the right wing tips of the two aircraft scraped against each other. DGCA officials reached the site after the incident. Air India informed that its flight was waiting on the taxiway for its turn to take off when the incident occurred.

An Air India jet and an IndiGo flight, both having passengers on board, were involved in an on-ground collision at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on Tuesday. It happened when the right wing tips of the two aircraft scraped against each other.
Both the carriers, along with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, confirmed the incident and the damage suffered by the two planes. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
DGCA said its officials reached the site following the collision. "Both aircraft returned to their respective bays for inspections," it added.
Air India informed that its flight was waiting on the taxiway for its turn to take off when the incident occurred. The IndiGo airliner, on the other hand, had just landed at the airport.
In an official statement, Air India said, "Flight AI2732 operating from Mumbai to Coimbatore on 3 February was delayed after the aircraft scheduled to operate the service came into contact with another airline’s aircraft while waiting on the taxiway prior to take-off. The wingtips of the two aircraft made contact, resulting in damage to our aircraft’s wingtip."
The jetliner has been grounded for technical checks as a precautionary measure, it informed. "All passengers were safely disembarked, and our ground teams are making alternative arrangements to fly them to their destination at the earliest," the Air India statement added.
IndiGo, too, provided details about the mishap. It stated, "We confirm that the wingtip of one of our aircraft operating flight 6E 791 from Hyderabad to Mumbai on 3 February 2026 came in contact with an aircraft of another airline while taxiing, after landing."
The no-frills airline further said that all passengers on its flight were safe and had been disembarked following parking. "The aircraft is undergoing maintenance inspections," IndiGo stated.
