A major showdown is underway within the Congress party, as K.N. Rajanna refutes allegations of joining the BJP. The claims, reportedly pushed by the DKS camp and floated by Mr. Balakrishna, have been labelled a "conspiracy" by Rajanna. His son, Rajendra, also rubbished the statement as a baseless allegation. Rajanna has now clarified the air, stating he has no necessity to join the BJP and sending a message to the Congress party. He said that he will "get votes even if he is an independent." This assertion is seen as a signal of his political strength and capability to win on his own, following his being dropped from the cabinet.
