Karnataka caste census: Siddharamiah holds meeting after ministers' objections

The fate of the caste census in Karnataka hangs in the balance, with a decision expected today. Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has called a high-stakes meeting to resolve what is described as "massive confusion over whether a resurvey should happen or not." This follows a cabinet session where some ministers, including Lingayat leaders, raised strong objections, casting a shadow over the survey. The meeting, attended by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister DK Sukumar, and other select ministers, will determine if the survey will be scrapped or if a resurvey will be conducted.
