The fate of the caste census in Karnataka hangs in the balance, with a decision expected today. Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has called a high-stakes meeting to resolve what is described as "massive confusion over whether a resurvey should happen or not." This follows a cabinet session where some ministers, including Lingayat leaders, raised strong objections, casting a shadow over the survey. The meeting, attended by the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister DK Sukumar, and other select ministers, will determine if the survey will be scrapped or if a resurvey will be conducted. The government had previously announced the survey would run from the 22nd of this month to the 7th of October, making today's meeting at the Chief Minister's residence a point of intense curiosity.
