India celebrates 77th Independence Day: A glimpse of celebrations across country

India is celebrating its 77th Independence Day on August 15, 2023.

This year, the theme for Independence Day is 'Nation First, Always First' under the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' celebration.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort in Delhi and unfurled the national flag.

To mark 77th Independence Day, people took part in 'Tiranga Yatra' across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address from Red Fort, greeted his ‘140 crore family members’ celebrating Independence Day. 

He also added that the world is facing inflation but India made all efforts to control inflation.

Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the Prime Minister also expressed confidence India would become a developed nation by 2047.

Referring to the countrymen as 'parivarjan' (family members), he said "Our goal is to strengthen the economy, empower the people, and make India a developed country".
