The Gujarat government has announced compensation for victims of the Gambhira bridge collapse connecting Anand and Vadodara. The state will provide Rs 4 lakh to the families of each deceased and Rs 50,000 to each injured person. The Prime Minister has also announced Rs 2 lakhs ex-gratia for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The state government has committed to providing all necessary treatment arrangements. The incident, which resulted in 9 fatalities, raises questions about the bridge's structural integrity, as it was reportedly repaired just a year ago. The collapse caused a section of the bridge to fall away, taking 5-6 vehicles with it.
