Amid Tirupati prasadam row, former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy refuted the charges levelled against him and said that religion is being used for political gains.Â
Dismissing the ruling Telugu Desam Party's charges of the presence of lard, beef tallow and fish oil in the ghee used for the preparation of the laddoos at Tirupati temple, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the lab report dates back to Chandrababu Naidu's tenure.
On Thursday, a report by NDDB CALF, a private laboratory focused on testing animal feed and milk and milk products, revealed that the samples of the ghee used in making Tirupati laddoos contained foreign fat, including palm oil, fish oil, beef tallow and lard (obtained by rendering the fatty tissue of a pig). The copy of the report was shared by ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesperson Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy.
