Vinesh Phogat says she decided to join politics after Olympics

In an exclusive interview with India Today Consulting Editor Rajdeep Sardesai, wrestler-turned-politician and Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat talked about entering politics, contesting from Julana seat in Haryana assembly polls and her future plans and more.

When asked her when she took the decision to join politics -- before the Olympics or after the Olympics, Vinesh Phogat said, "I made the decision after the Olympics. Who will go to the finals of the Olympics, will win gold and then will say that i have to join politics? But I have come. The circumstances were such, I met people. Every person said that you have to come forward for their kids. You have to be at the forefront, and you can't sit at home and cry. You will have to fight."
