AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has embarked on a four-day 'Seemanchal Nyay Yatra' in Bihar, targeting the Muslim-dominated districts of Kishangunj, Araria, Purnia, and Katihar. This outreach to voters ahead of assembly elections follows his unsuccessful attempt to forge an alliance with the RJD to prevent the scattering of Muslim votes. The yatra also takes place as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have been raising the issue of infiltration in the region. The AIMIM's campaign is significant as the party's performance in 2020 was seen as denting the prospects of the RJD and Tejaswi Yadav in the Simanchal area. The key question is how much damage Owaisi's presence in the electoral fray can cause to the Mahagathbandhan this time.
