Pariksha Pe Charcha 2026: PM Modi interacts with 25 meritorious students from Assam
Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with students aboard a cruise on the Brahmaputra during his Assam visit. The interaction, part of the annual Pariksha Pe Charcha programme, included 25 students from government, private, and residential schools across Assam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today began his interaction with students under the Pariksha Pe Charcha initiative from an unusual setting, boarding a cruise vessel on the Brahmaputra during the second day of his Assam visit.
Around 25 students from different districts of Assam participated in the programme, during which the Prime Minister engaged with them for nearly 45 minutes aboard the three-level cruise ship MV Charaidew 2, officials confirmed.
The Prime Minister reached the Guwahati Gateway Terminal, a newly developed Inland Water Transport (IWT) facility, before proceeding to the vessel via a floating bridge. The terminal was inaugurated recently by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
In view of the high-profile visit, security arrangements were significantly strengthened across the river stretch. Personnel from the River Police, NDRF and SDRF were deployed for continuous patrolling since early morning, while ferry services on the Brahmaputra were suspended for two days starting Saturday.
Students attending the session were selected from multiple districts, including Kamrup Metropolitan, Morigaon, Dibrugarh, Cachar, Sribhumi, Baksa, Dima Hasao, Kokrajhar, Golaghat, Karbi Anglong and Nalbari. They represented a mix of government, residential and private schools, such as Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, PM Shri schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, Don Bosco institutions and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had earlier said that Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Kaziranga National Park last year resulted in a noticeable increase in tourist arrivals and expressed optimism that the river cruise would similarly boost river tourism in Assam.
Pariksha Pe Charcha, launched in 2018, is an annual initiative aimed at helping students manage exam-related stress while promoting a healthy and balanced approach to studies. Through the programme, the Prime Minister encourages open dialogue on academics, career choices and mental well-being, offering guidance on approaching board and competitive examinations with confidence and composure.
