Maharashtra reports 27,126 fresh Covid-19 cases, Mumbai one of worst hit cities

Maharashtra has registered its highest-ever single-day spike of coronavirus cases on Saturday with 27,126 fresh infections. The fresh cases have taken state's total caseload to 24,49,147. While the state reported a record surge in cases on Saturday, it also registered 13,588 recoveries. A total of 22,03,553 Covid-19 patients have been discharged so far in the state after full recovery, taking the recovery rate in to 89.97 per cent. Meanwhile, 92 Covid-19 deaths on Saturday took state's case fatality rate to 2.18 per cent. Currently, 9,18,408 people are in home quarantine and 7,953 people are in institutional quarantine in Maharashtra. The state has 1,91,006 active cases at present.

Mumbai, one of the worst-hit cities in Maharashtra, reported 2,982 fresh cases of coronavirus on Saturday while seven people succumbed to the virus. Mumbai's total tally has now reached 358,896.
