India on Tuesday got a step closer to starting the world's largest Covid-19 vaccination drive when the first consignment of Covishield, the Covid-19 vaccine developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca, left the Serum Institute of India in the wee hours. The Serum Institute is manufacturing Covishield in India. The first consignment of Covishield, containing 478 boxes of vaccines, each weighing 32 kg, is being sent to 13 locations across the country.
