Video: Cars submerged as Kolkata neighbourhood turns into massive lake

Overnight downpour crippled normal life in Kolkata and nearby areas on Tuesday, leaving several neighbourhoods submerged under knee-deep water and traffic at a standstill. The heaviest rainfall was recorded in the city’s southern and eastern parts, with Garia Kamdahari logging 332 mm, followed by Jodhpur Park (285 mm), Kalighat (280.2 mm), Topsia (275 mm), Ballygunge (264 mm) and Chetla (262 mm), according to the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
