Credit war erupts over Kolkata Metro ahead of inauguration by PM Modi

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's inauguration of a significant metro project extension in Kolkata, a credit war has erupted between the Trinamool Congress and the BJP. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is set to skip the event, claiming the project was her initiative. She stated, "The blueprint was drawn out when I was the railway minister." Her claim is that the various metro extensions were sanctioned and planned during her tenure. The project will connect Kolkata's airport to the metro system for the first time in decades and also link the crucial Howrah and Sealdah railway stations. The BJP counters that the projects had been lying idle and were expedited and completed only after the Narendra Modi government came to power, giving them the credit for its completion.
